We seek a skilled and motivated Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join a dynamic and multidisciplinary team within a busy Emergency Department. This role involves providing high-quality care to adult and pediatric patients while contributing to service development and clinical innovation in emergency pathways.
This position is ideal for an established ED Consultant or a fellowship-trained Specialist Registrar (SpR) ready to transition into a Consultant role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional clinical care in a busy Emergency Department, utilizing a patient-centred approach for both adults and children.
- Participate in a consultant-led on-call rota, providing on-site coverage during agreed hours and ensuring 24/7 excellence in emergency care.
- Actively engage in service development, including redesigning emergency care pathways and contributing to pediatric emergency care innovations.
- To enhance patient outcomes, lead and collaborate on audits, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and supervise junior medical staff and trainees, fostering professional development within the team.
- Maintain a flexible approach to job planning, adapting to evolving service needs.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: MBBS or equivalent, full GMC registration, and FRCEM (or equivalent).
- Experience: Comprehensive training and broad experience in Emergency Medicine, with knowledge of supervising and supporting junior staff.
- Specialist Registration: Eligible for entry on the GMC Specialist Register within six months of receiving a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
- Clinical Expertise: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in emergency scenarios.
- Values: A commitment to patient safety, service improvement, and alignment with NHS values.
Desirable Skills:
- Postgraduate qualifications such as MSc, PhD, or MD.
- Experience in emergency medicine at Specialty Doctor or SpR level.
- Proven involvement in undergraduate, GP, or paramedical education.
- Familiarity with current challenges and advancements in adult and pediatric emergency medicine.
