An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Consultant in Medical Oncology to join the Gynaecology and Colorectal Cancer teams within the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Consultants appointed will also hold an honorary lecturer contract with the Hull York Medical School (HYMS), offering opportunities for teaching and academic collaboration.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and treat patients with Gynaecological and Colorectal cancers as part of multidisciplinary teams (MDTs).
  • Provide on-call and acute inpatient cover on a rotational basis (1 week in 8).
  • Attend and contribute to weekly MDT meetings.
  • Participate in clinical research and support innovation in patient care.
  • Teach and mentor speciality trainees in Medical Oncology.
  • Engage in undergraduate teaching as an honorary lecturer with Hull York Medical School (HYMS).

Candidate Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Medical Oncology via CCT, or within 6 months of expected CCT/CESR approval at the time of interview.
  • Proven clinical experience and expertise in Medical Oncology at the Consultant level.
  • Demonstrable experience managing Gynaecological and Colorectal cancers.
  • Experience in teaching and supervising junior doctors and medical students.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Substantive NHS experience.
  • Postgraduate qualification (MD or PhD).
